“Osteopathy is a system of diagnosis and treatment for a wide range of medical conditions. It works with the structure and function of the body and is based on the principle that the well-being of an individual depends on the skeleton, muscles, ligaments and connective tissues functioning smoothly together”

General Osteopathic Council

Why you are safe in our hands?

Osteopaths are trained specialists in muscular skeletal diagnosis including the treatment and long-term management of simple to the most complex conditions.

Differential diagnosis is a large part of an Osteopathic Science degree. Referring to GPs for: orthopaedic cardiovascular oncology and neurological specialist consultations if required is normal practice.

Osteopathic differential diagnosis is different from clinical reasoning in other health professions.

Osteopaths use a multi-phase approach: an initial biomedical screen for serious pathology, followed by Orthopaedic testing and then using Osteopathic reasoning models that are based on the relationship between structure and function in the body, with emphasis on posture and natural biomechanics.

Osteopaths work closely alongside conventional medicine and communicate with all medical specialists.

“Our priority is to provide experienced compassionate care to make a real difference for the long term providing advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring.”

Osteopaths also provide advice on posture and exercise to aid recovery, promote health and prevent symptoms recurring

Osteopathy can:

  • Remove the underlying cause of pain.
  • Reduce pain and stiffness in muscles and joints.
  • Increase the range of motions in the joints.
  • Treat spinal problems resulting from poor posture or spinal disk injuries.
  • Relieve chronic pain through non-invasive treatment.
  • Decrease the stress on the joints.

“Osteopathy specialises in restoring the structural
alignment of postural changes. These can be caused
by or maintained by injury. Postural changes,
however small, can often be a contributing factor in
reoccurring pain and repetitive injury.”

Osteopaths take a holistic approach to your health and well-being

Osteopathy specialises in restoring the structural alignment of postural changes. The body is a dynamic structure and is dependent on the harmonious balance of the muscular skeletal system. When all the joints are correctly aligned and the muscles are working efficiently this good posture helps prevent injury and improves wellbeing.

Osteopathy is a treatment for everyone, from babies a few days old to patients in their nineties. Osteopathic treatment can alleviate a wide range of disorders including back pain, neck pain and shoulder pain, headaches, arthritic pain and digestive disorders. Osteopathy is a drug-free, non-invasive manual therapy that aims to improve health across all body systems by manipulating and strengthening the musculoskeletal framework. Osteopathy is a way of detecting, treating and preventing health problems by moving, stretching and massaging a person’s muscles and joints. Osteopathy is based on the principle that the wellbeing of an individual depends on their bones, muscles, ligaments and connective tissue functioning smoothly together.
